Auchentoshan Blood Oak (1L, 46% ABV)

Auchentoshan Blood Oak earned its name by aging in bourbon and red wine barrels, adding deep crimson whiskey that isn't afraid to stand out from the crowd. tints. Packs a spice punch with notes of red fruit and ginger.

The Auchentoshan distillery was built in 1800. After its inauguration, it had several owners, changing hands on several occasions until it was bought by Eadie Cairn in 1869, who completely rebuilt it. In 1984, Cairns sold Auchentoshan to Morrison Bowmore Distillers.

Auchentoshan is located at the foot of the Kilpatrick Hills, on the outskirts of Clydebank (West Dunbartonshire), near the Erskine Bridge. It's one of six

distilleries in the Scottish Lowlands, along with Bladnoch, Glenkinchie and Daftmill, the Annandale distillery and the Ailsa Bay distillery.

The Auchentochan (pronounced Aw-khen-tosh-an) distillery is a single malt whiskey distillery in the west of Scotland. The name Auchentoshan in Gaelic translates as “The Corner of the Field”. The spirit produced is also known as "Glasgow Malt Whisky", due to its proximity to this city, and also as "Breakfast Whisky", for being sweet and naturally delicate.

Unusually for a Scottish distillery, Auchentoshan practices triple distillation. Generally, at the end of the Scottish whiskey production process the pure malt is distilled in two copper stills. At  Auchentoshan, a third still – known as the “Intermediate Still” – helps raise the final proof of the distilled alcohol up to 81º. This triple distillation, carried out with malt that does not come into contact with peat, gives Auchentoshan a much more delicate and sweet flavor than many other Scottish Whiskies.
