Marsannay wines have a truly unique character in the expression of the fruit, especially in the variety of red fruits from cherry to plum, apparently in fresh and crunchy versions, wines that can also be medium tannic with great potential for refinement.

The soils of Marsannay are particularly complex and multifaceted; we are originally talking about a deep layer of origin of the Central Massif with granites and metamorphic rocks covered by soils that originated in the Jurassic era, about 250 million years ago, the ancient presence of the sea has formed over the years the marl that creates the true substrate of the vineyards on which the limestone and clay were subsequently deposited. Following movements of the terrestrial platforms, cross-shaped soil splits were created, causing soils with a preponderance of clay to emerge, depending on the areas, in areas with brown earth and rubble of calcareous origin from the Bathonian era, sometimes in very large percentages such as this is the case in lieux dit Clos Du Roi. However, we must not forget the three depressions called combe which in the northern area refresh the microclimates of the lieux dits on which they overlook or even characterize the area, creating a real basin with a much deeper earthquake as in the central area of ​​the AOC of Marsannay .
