APPEARANCE Intense amber or burnt orange.
BODY Medium-bodied and pleasantly enveloping.
BOUQUET Slightly spicy and drying on the nose, overall. Candy apples. Hints of honeycomb balanced by remnants of youthful freshness – linseed oil and scented tea. It becomes fruitier: ripe autumn fruits combined with the spiciness of red berries. Notes of malt and cereals. A little sweetness from the golden syrup. Reassuringly well balanced. The addition of water initially brings out a waxier note, with traces of sweet chestnut and angelica glace, and then a whiff of smoke or charred wood.
PALATE Without water, the flavor is sweet at the beginning and then dry at the end. Warming, light and smooth; tending towards the delicate. Base notes of malt and oats. Fresh fruit salad, with spicy and floral top notes. With the addition of water you have a pleasant sensation in the mouth. A little sweetness, although the overall effect remains balanced and dry.
FINISH Drying. Pears and digestive biscuits, then delicately spiced with notes of anise.
