According to legend, the Cù Bòcan is a ghostly mastiff that wanders at night in the Scottish Highlands of the town of Tomatin, sightings are rare but always terrifying. Tomatin pays homage to this legend during the last 4 weeks of the year when all production (approximately 60,000 litres) is made with lightly peated barley created specifically for the production of Cù Bòcan. The Cù Bòcan Vintage 1988 is the latest release from the distillery, this limited edition single malt (2,200 bottles total) was distilled on 2 December 1988 and left to age 28 years in old ex-bourbon and ex-sherry barrels that have contained whiskey Islay peat. Finally bottled as cask strength at 51.5% and without being cold filtered.
