Amaretto liqueur is not a distillate but an alcoholic infusion preparation, such as nocino or limoncello. For this reason, home preparation is also very widespread and has various variations; the most widespread also involves the use of apricots, in addition to bitter almonds. The liqueur has an alcohol content of 28 degrees and a flavor that is distantly reminiscent of marzipan. It is drunk neat, with or without ice and sometimes used to prepare cocktails.
