The Amaro Amarot is an artisanal bitter made from herbs and chinotto. It was born in Turin, in the historic district of San Salvario and is expertly produced by the distillers of Castelnuovo Don Bosco.

The legend of Amaròt

At the beginning of the last century Turin was shocked by the ferment of industrialization. In the barrier areas, businesses flourish, attracting masses of farmers from the surrounding countryside in search of work in the textile factories and in the new Fiat factories of San Salvario.

Precisely in this village, in a small woolen mill on Via Baretti, among the bales of raw fleece in the warehouses rest the flasks of smuggled distilled liquors in the valleys behind the hill. The workers who spin incessantly at the spinning wheels on the upper floors have hidden them here away from the light and the frost and, at the end of the day, a drop of that spirit will bring their minds back to the aromas and traditions of their lands.

From those recipes we have developed an artisanal bitter, blended with citrus fruits from the Ligurian Riviera and with the best Piedmontese herbs to obtain a unique and intense flavour.
