Amaro Petrus Boonekamp (0.7L, 45% Vol.) Petrus Boonekamp is a bitter of Dutch origin, created in 1777 in Leidschendam by the liqueur maker Petrus Boonekamp, whose existence is demonstrated by local sources. Among other things, still today, at entrance of one of the oldest houses in Leidschendam, the one that was the home of the famous liquor dealer, there is the sign of the WED company. A.P. BOONEKAMP N.V. which holds the recipe and brand of the famous amaro. According to historical evidence from the city of Leidschendam (Netherlands), PETRUS bitters were made for the first time in 1777 by the liqueur and alcohol merchant Petrus Boonekamp, infusing different herbs and spices in spirits which at that time came from all over the world. the world in Holland, which was at the time the global crossroads of maritime transport. Some of the plants used are: Alpinia officinarum, Aloe socrotina, Angelica archangelica and Coriandrum sativum. A peculiarity of this “amarissimo” is the fact that it does not contain sugar. Due to its characteristics and centuries-old history, it can be considered "the father of all bitters". For many years it was marketed under the name UR-BOONEKAMP, especially in Germany. This is to indicate that it is the original product, which gave life to the category to which it belongs, having been created by the inventor of digestive bitters (stomatics or magenbitter in German), the liquorist Petrus (or Pieter) Boonekamp. In 2020, Wed. A.P. Boonekamp B.V. became part of the CAFFO 1915 group which controls various brands of alcohol (Vecchio Amaro del Capo and Elisir Borsci S.Marzano). Tasting notes Intense and bright mahogany colour, it presents multiple herbaceous and floral aromas on the nose, with traceable hints with dried rose, cherry in alcohol and cocoa bean. The taste is decidedly bitter, balanced and soft, in a context of great structure and balance which makes it pleasantly persistent. It closes with bitter notes of gentian and rhubarb, with a light hint of ginger.
