The history of the Labruyère family dates back to the second half of the 19th century, and since then one of the most prestigious Maisons in France has been consolidated from generation to generation. Jean Pierre Labruyère was president of the Labruyère Eberlé family group for over 30 years and strongly wanted his son Edoardo to lead the company into the third millennium since 2008, projecting it to the top of world wine production. Today Edoardo Labruyère manages properties in Burgundy, including the Domaine Jacques Prieur, the Chateau Rouget in Pomerol in the Bordeaux area, and the vineyards in Champagne. The latter are located among the hills of Verzenay, among the 17 municipalities that enjoy the prestigious Grand Cru denomination and in particular one of the 3 best crus of Champagne, in an area declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, protected by the mountains of Reims where they are grown of the extraordinary Pinot Noir grapes.
The Champagne Prologue expresses the great richness of the terroir of the Grand Cru Verzenay, composed of the blend of 70% Pinot Noir grapes and Chardonnay for the remaining 30%. The harvest took place in 2013, strictly manual and slightly later than usual, while the refinement on the fermentation lees lasted twice as long as the rule requires. A Champagne that confirms the vocation of the Maison J.M. Labruyère to express what we can define as one of the most prestigious cultural blends in France.
