While most of Johnny Neill's gin recipes were inspired by his ancestor Frederick Neill's intrepid foreign travels, that of Whitley Neill Rhubarb & Ginger Gin is inspired by closer, more familiar memories. After the war, in fact, the Whitley family, now settled in rural England near Daresbury, cultivated their own garden with various herbs, spices, fruit and vegetables, which they used both at the table and for their experimentation with new gins. This gin therefore evokes Johnny's childhood memories, when he went to visit his grandparents on their farm where this beautiful cultivated garden grew.
