San Marzano Vini - Primitivo 60 years 2018 Magnum 1.5LT
Primitivo sessant'anni is a red wine obtained from Primitivo di Manduria grapes, from historic vineyards that boast seventy years of production.
Grape variety: Primitivo.
Area: Very old vineyards selected in the municipalities of San Marzano (TA) and Sava (TA).
Soil: Residual red soil with fine texture with calcareous substrate, sparse rocky outcrops and intense presence of iron oxides.
Cultivation: Saplings at least sixty years old (5,000 per hectare).
Harvest: Second half of September.
Winemaking: The grapes, in an advanced state of ripeness, are harvested manually. Maceration takes place for 18 days on 80% of the mass and for 25 days on 20%, with indigenous yeasts selected in the vineyard. Fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature of 24-26 °C.
Aging: In French and American oak barriques for 12 months.
Organoleptic characteristics: Very intense and elegant ruby red colour; broad and complex bouquet, fruity, with hints of plums, cherry jam and notes of tobacco, slightly spicy; wine with great body, soft and rich in noble tannins, with a finish that gives notes of cocoa, coffee and vanilla.
Pairings: Robust first courses, red meats and game. Meditation wine.
Serve at: 18°C.
