That boutique-y rum company - TDL Fernandes, Trinidad Batch 1 - 19 YO (50CL, 57.4% Vol.)
The batch #1 of Caroni shows on the label a piece of the history of rum in Trinidad & Tobago: a scientist has developed a time machine to look at the past ofMr Fernandes. He must have had something to do with the 1932 fire that destroyed T&T Government Rum Bond, when Fernandes bought himself several barrels of exceptional vintages. This rum is aged for 19 years, bottled at 57.4%, not cold filtered and not artificially coloured, it is a limited edition of 522 specimens.
TASTING NOTES:
Aroma: Herbaceous, with notes of smoked rosemary, then vanilla and butterscotch, with dried mango.
Palate: Baked banana bread, butter and vanilla icing, bitter dried herbs.
Finish: Clean, with white pepper and lemon buds, bitter cocoa and custard.
Straordinario rapporto qualità/prezzo per un vino fresco, fermo con profumi prevalentemente fruttati. Al palato risulta morbido, fresco abbastanza armonico. Consigliato per accompagnare nelle calde serate estive, piatti a base di verdure di stagione e piatti di pesce. Può anche essere utilizzato come aperitivo servito molto freddo.
